The World isn’t the Same

By: Christine Miskonoodinkwe Smith

The world isn’t the same

Without you here

I miss you more than

The day you left this world behind

Your smile

Your laughter

And telling of stories

The world isn’t the same

Without you here

I miss you more than

The day you left this world behind.

Oh what I’d give

To hear your voice

One more time

To have my phone ring

And hear you say

How are you?

Or hear your laugh

As you tell me one more time

How people couldn’t believe

That my sister and I were born

So close together

Within ten months to be exact

The world isn’t the same

Without you here

I miss you more than

The day you left this world behind

I love you mommy

I can only hope that now

You are at peace

And pain free

No longer hurting

From society’s ills

And that you are

Free
